By Caitlin Booth
We have a riddle for you—what do delicious eats, beloved Sydney DJ Latifa Tee, your favourite local businesses, live entertainment and DJs all have in common? Spoiler, you can find them all at a string of free street parties taking over Sydney's suburbs throughout June and early July.
Enticingly titled, Your Street, Your Party, these all-day events are the initiative of the NSW Government through Investment NSW and are a celebration of the local businesses that operate as the lifeblood of Sydney’s suburbs. From the corner cafe that caffeinates you every day, to your favourite restaurant down the road, these street parties are an awesome way to say thanks to your local or to discover a new favourite.
Totally free to attend and inclusive to all, the parties will stack Sydney’s calendar throughout June and July, bringing the streets of Coogee, Randwick, Inner West and City of Sydney to life.
We’ve got all the details on this month’s parties below.
Eastern Sydney
Coogee | Saturday, June 4 | 10am - 6pm
Coogee’s beachbound weekend traffic will give way for two-and four-legged traffic when the streets close off on Saturday, June 4 for Your Street, Your Party. We're talking a day of food, fun and some fancy Latin footwork. Explore Coogee’s local delights, and stalls and sit in extended outdoor dining spaces while Reggae band, Kool Vibration and Club Havana provide a soundtrack that will get your body moving.
Running from 10am to 6pm, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and eat your way through the day with multiple culinary delights on offer. Kickstart your morning with a smoothie from Melonhead, tuck into a taco at Little Jack Horner and swing by Coogee Wine Room, The Lucky Cat or Courtyard for some quintessentially Coogee vibes. See in the sunset from the gorgeous Coogee Beach hillside with some delish bites from the vendors setting up shop for the day, and cheers to a day well spent down at Coogee Bay Hotel.
Inclusive of all Sydneysiders, it’s the perfect excuse to catch up with friends, see the family, or do date day with a difference.
You’ll find all the fun and plenty of places to relax, on Coogee Bay Road, between Brook Street and Arden Street.
Randwick | Sunday, June 5 | 10am - 6pm
Doubling down on the eastern ‘burbs festivities, Randwick will pick up where Coogee left off with another day of food and entertainment from 10am to 6pm. Pet-friendly festivities mean you can change up your Sunday routine and take your four-legged friend for a stroll with a difference, or see-in Sunday’s sunset to the sound of live music.
Speaking of live music, Randwick will be treated to the sultry sounds of New Orleans with a jazz and soul twist, provided by Crawfish Po'boys. Seeing in the sunset and ramping up the party vibes will be Adam Katz from Kaleidoscope Dream, rounding out your Sunday the right way.
Stroll along with a slice from Arthur’s Pizza, warm up with coffee at Shorty’s Randwick, or refresh with a delicious cocktail at the iconic Bat Country.
The party will take over St Pauls Street, between Perouse Road and Nancy Street.
Inner West
Summer Hill | Saturday, 11 June | 10am - 6pm
Summer Hill’s festivities will kick-off to the sound of opera, presented by Andiamo Trattoria, and will be followed closely by the fresh funk-pop vibes of the roving brass band, Phat Brass. As golden hour sets in, the soundtrack will slide into some soul and funk from Soul of Sydney, throwing in a dash of house and disco to ramp up the Saturday night vibes as the sunsets.
Treat yourself to a battered sav at Summer Hill Fish and Chips or enjoy pasta at Andiamo Trattoria while you explore the stalls from Fair Trade at the Hill, Summer Hill Village and Mad Whole Foods, or sit back and relax with a couple of drinks at The Rio, Temperance Society or the Summer Hill Hotel.

Sydney-based, nine-piece funk band, Pezcobar will bring a dose of Funk to the streets and the day will round out with Local Sydney DJ, DJ Trey spinning some old school R’n’B, and hip hop.
Eat your way through the day with a heap of Euro-inspired delicacies from Mezzapica Cakes or Bar Italia and stop for a drink at The Golden Gully or the Royal Hotel to see off a day well spent.
